On-site evaluation operations for the 2023 academic year's evaluation of Universities of Technology were successfully completed in January of 2024

Since 2005, the Taiwan Assessment and Evaluation Association (TWAEA) has been entrusted by the Ministry of Education to conduct evaluations of technical and vocational colleges and universities. Through the establishment of evaluation mechanisms and the annual management of evaluation-related tasks, TWAEA is dedicated to enhancing the educational quality of technological universities to ensure students' right to education. For the 2023 academic year's evaluation plan, a total of 12 schools were evaluated, including 5 technological universities undergoing routine evaluations and 6 technological universities along with 1 technical college undergoing follow-up evaluations. The on-site evaluation operations were smoothly conducted from late November of 2023 to early January of 2024, followed by subsequent related compilation tasks.

The 2023 academic year marks the end of the current evaluation cycle (2019 to 2023 academic years), and a new cycle of institutional evaluation will be entered with the 2024 to 2028 academic years . Observations from this evaluation cycle indicate that most schools have gradually established comprehensive quality management, set their own development goals, and implemented self-improvement mechanisms for quality. However, a few schools are still affected by environmental factors and various challenges in school management. The evaluation mechanism continues to remind schools to implement teaching quality improvement mechanisms, focus on effective school governance, and embrace a spirit of self-discipline. By returning to teaching that aims to achieve positive student learning outcomes and aligning with industry development trends, it aims to fulfill the practical and application-oriented purposes of vocational education, assisting schools in sustainable operations.
