TWAEA Expands Substantive International Cooperation through Intensive Inter-agency Staff Exchanges

In recent years, the Taiwan Assessment and Evaluation Association (TWAEA) has established substantive cooperation with multinational evaluation associations. These include the Japan University Accreditation Association (JUAA) of Japan, the Office for National Education Standards and Quality Assessment of Thailand (ONESQA), and others. In 2017 TWAEA began to promote inter-agency personnel exchanges.  In 2018, TWAEA began to plan and implement a series of multinational training activities held in alternating between Taiwan, Japan and Thailand. Most recently the training was held in Taiwan again in July 2019, making it the fourth time that TWAEA has organized multinational organization personnel exchange and training.

The training was held at TWAEA from July 3-5, 2019 with the theme of “University Assessment and Evaluation Standards” and joined by representatives from JUAA. In addition to the discussion of the theme by JUAA representatives and TWAEA staff, in-depth seminars on assessment methods and future challenges in university evaluation were held for the two agencies’ personnel to exchange their professional opinions.

Furthermore, a visit to the China University of Technology (CUTe) in Taipei City’s Wenshan District was arranged. CUTe introduced its unique teaching and counseling environment and equipment to enhance the learning effectiveness of its students. CUTe also arranged a visit to its Indigenous Students Resources Center to emphasize the linkage of talent cultivation and indigenous student communities. The visit also included the Accreditation of the Chinese Collegiate School of Business (ACCSB) center, where participants were received by the center’s CEO Jacob Y. H. Jou. CEO Jou also introduced the contents and accreditation process of ACCSB for JUAA representatives to better understand the operational mechanism of professional accreditation bodies and the talent cultivation mission of higher vocational education institutions in Taiwan. Through persistent exchange among non-governmental organizations, TWAEA and JUAA participants had the opportunity to better understand the education system and evaluation mechanism of their respective countries, and facilitate the growth of professional evaluation knowledge.
